For this project in the Hollywood Hills, the client wanted to add a second-floor living space onto their existing single-family residence, as well as update the exterior of their home to give it a modern look. Given that the homeowners are admirers of mid-century modern architecture, we provided a design that included horizontal wood, modern guardrails, windows, and doors, and large balconies from which to enjoy the view of Studio City below. We worked with a pool designer to create a pool that matched the new, modern look of the home.
The interior layout was completely revised to provide a better flow. The design boasts a grand, open-concept kitchen, dining, and living room area. Large telescoping doors leading out to the pool provide a seamless indoor-outdoor entertaining space. The ground floor also contains two large bedrooms, with a private bathroom for each, as well as a pool room, powder room, mudroom, laundry room, two-car garage, and a home office. The second floor houses an additional bedroom, bathroom, family room, and an expansive master suite with direct access to a large balcony.
