The Alpert Jewish Community Center (AJCC) in City of Long Beach is one of the jewels of the City. The AJCC’s mission is to be a hub of life for the entire community. We are honored to be repeatedly asked to be a part of the Center’s improvement projects.
The task for this project was to upgrade to their men’s and women’s locker rooms. In partnership with Gensler Interiors, we updated the Center’s locker rooms and converted an underused whirlpool room into much-need stretch space. When completed, these upgrades allowed the AJCC continue to offer the community a world-class facility that could easily compete with nearby fitness centers.
Our design replaced all of the lockers, benches, flooring, and finishes and provided an updated look. We enlarged the shower stalls to make them more functional. We replaced the restroom fixtures, opting for undermount lavatories to provide a clean appearance.
For the stretch area we removed the whirlpool and a non-bearing partition wall, and reinforced the existing ceiling structure to provide mounting for a TRX suspended strap system.
