Here at M. Grisafe Architects, we’ve taken on a new tenant improvement project in Long Beach—our own! Our offices were in need of an upgrade, so we’ve been working on improving the office’s look, as well as its functionality. We’re also using the remodel to test out some new products on the market, to see if they are worth recommending to our clients.
We want to make sure that we only recommend high-quality products to our clients, and the best way to test them out is to use them on a daily basis to see how they perform in real-life circumstances. Basically, we’re giving these products a trial run for you.
On the floors of our updated office, you’ll now find new carpet squares by Mohawk Flooring. But these aren’t just any carpet squares. They have the visual appearance of concrete, while still being soft underfoot. They add a great industrial vibe to our office space, and we are very happy with how they look. As an added bonus, if any of the squares ever get damaged, it’s easy (and relatively inexpensive) to replace single squares at any given time—one of our favorite features of modular carpet squares.
For another architectural element, we’re adding a sliding barn door in our office space. The sliding barn door hardware is being provided by Eclisse, a company that also specializes in pocket door hardware. Custom door company, TruStile, is providing our office with bi-fold closet doors. TruStile is known for making quality products, so we are hoping these bi-fold doors will consistently operate well, unlike some of the bi-fold doors we’ve seen in the past that regularly have issues.
For paint, we are working with Dunn-Edwards, a paint company that offers products for both interior and exterior applications, including those that are free of any Toxic Air Contaminants (TAC) and Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAP). They also use Zero VOC colorants that contain none of the EPA’s “Chemicals of Concern.” If eco-efficiency is important to you, the Dunn-Edwards EVEREST line is a great paint to consider for your residential or commercial project.
