We designed the storybook facade remodel of this home for a woman who lives in an affluent neighborhood in the City of Orange. The client hired us to address two main issues: design a charming exterior that she has wanted all her life and help the home feel not so “choppy.” Like many older homes that undergo piecemeal remodels over a span of years, the house had poorly designed circulation between the interior spaces. It had a large living room, but a small closed-off kitchen and no dining area.
Our design not only created the lovely exterior, but we also were able to enlarge the kitchen to provide a space that functioned better and had plenty of storage, and add on a dining room. We added wide openings between the kitchen and living room to provide a connection between the spaces and included a butler’s pantry to act as a buffer between the kitchen and family room.
On the other side of the house, we relocated the laundry room to be near the bedrooms, rather than keep it in its original location by the kitchen. Additionally, we enlarged an existing bedroom and created a grand master suite with a large bath and walk-in closet.
