Although yet to be built, this “ground-up” project for a recycling company was well received by the City of Fontana. We worked closely with our client to provide an efficient plan within an attractive building facade. The plan for this project included an area for weighing recyclables, a business office, a cashier area, restrooms, and an enclosed space for the storage of high-value materials. We used a mix of a stone wainscoting and varying colors of stucco to add interest and to tie it in with the surrounding businesses.
Since this project was to be located on an empty plot, a large portion of the work involved site design and civil engineering. Site drainage, water quality, and site utilities also played a major role in the layout. Movement of cars and trucks on the site was also a consideration, so we designed a small parking lot for the employees and customers, as well as a separate lot for the trucks coming in to pick up materials for processing. Behind the main building, we designated space for a recyclables holding area.
